- Forget al those standards for a moment
- Give everybody a juicy, practical training
This way EMC is no fun:
Far to much focus on the EMC standards:
almost everybody in the EMC world continuously emphasises the need to comply with the legal standards. Of course that is important, but the standards are nothing more than an instrument to force you to do something on EMC. Furthermore, the standards are boring and discourage a lot of people. Many people associate EMC with boring standards that you just have to comply with, which makes nobody happy.
This way EMC is fun:
Instead, you should see EMC as a interesting technical challenge, just like the functional design. By looking at EMC this way you will start to enjoy it and put more and more EMC measures into your designs, which will get better and better over time. And what you will notice is that, suddenly, complying with the standards becomes a piece of cake, without the need of going back to the test facility a thousand times.
This way EMC is no fun:
If you have not enough knowledge. If you want to implement EMC measures into your electronic design, of course, you want to know what to do. Or, if you encounter an EMC problem, you want to know how to tackle that. And preferably in a practical way without all sorts of theoretical mathematics that do not help you to make, for instance, a PCB. But if you lack that knowledge then EMC can easily become just a mountain too high
and you just don't know where to begin.
This way EMC is fun:
With a good and practical training, which is brought to you in a juicy and humoristic way and that makes you understand the stuff and know what to do. And not only you, but also all of your colleagues, so you can communicate with them and help each other.
So, it is essential to give everybody a good and practical EMC basis. But, please, don't do that in this way: sometimes just a few people are sent to a multi-day EMC course. Nice try, but ...
